Showmax Launches New Mockumentary Series ‘Black & Blue’ on
Showmax has announced that on Wednesday it is set to unveil its original mockumentary series, Black & Blue, premiering on November 6.
The series takes a fresh approach to the portrayal of Kenyan policing as the Kenyan Police department enlists a civilian to serve as Officer Commanding Station (OCS), bringing unexpected changes to the local police station.
As a documentary crew follows the new OCS, played by Kalasha winner Gitura Kamau (Lusala), they inadvertently expose the humorous and chaotic backdrop of police operations amidst the department’s attempts to implement reforms.
The ensemble cast features notable talents like Lydia Gitachu (Kina), Annstella Karimi (Baba Twins), and more, promising a rich viewing experience.
Directed by Abdi Shuria and King ‘Mushking’ Muriuki, who previously collaborated on acclaimed Showmax Originals, the series aims to blend comedy with critical themes in Kenyan policing.
Shuria emphasizes the show’s premise as a means to transform negative police experiences into comedic insight, stating, “Where there is tragedy, there is also humour.”
Black & Blue marks the ninth Showmax Original series in Kenya for 2024, following hits like Nai-Rich and Subterranea.
Viewers can catch new episodes every Wednesday exclusively on Showmax, promising a comedic and candid look at law enforcement in Kenya.
